The Dutch importer of Volkswagen, Pon, accused of bribing police and military civil servants, settles the case for 12 million euros and escapes prosecution.

Robert Šlachta, the ex leader of the Department for Combating Organised Crime received an offer from the leadership of the Ministry of Finance to the post of Deputy General Director the Customs Administration. Šlachta left the Police after 26 years in duty, because of his disagreement with police reorganisation.

Major corruption scandals have recently emerged at the State Revenue Service (VID) and the Police. Internal Security Bureau (IDB) has conformed three security measures unconnected with the imprisonment to the suspected Chief Deputy of General Order Police Department of State Police Arvils Feierābendams. He is conformed for maintaining a certain place of residence, prohibition to contact with persons related to the case and prohibition to take a position in Central Public Order Police Department of Coordination and Control Board.

Internal Security Bureau (IDB) has detained the State police inspector of compartment administration of Latgale District who has been suspected of demanding a bribe of 1500 euros. IDB has a suspicion that the bribe has been demanded to influence the outcome of the application. Office has initiated criminal proceedings and the suspected person has been arrested.
