Pope Francis urged young Kenyans on Friday not to succumb to the sweet lure of Corruption, and urged them to help those tempted by "fanatical" ideologies.

Kenya, boasting some of the world's finest middle and long-distance runners, has in recent years been rocked by a spate of failed drug tests and the country's athletics federation has drawn criticism for not doing enough to tackle doping. Allegations of Corruption among AK chiefs tied to a Nike sponsorship deal, combined with Russia's recent ban from global athletics, have stirred fears that the East African nation could be banned from international track and field.

Banks that break Kenya's anti-Money Laundering rules will lose their licenses, President Uhuru Kenyatta said on Monday in his annual address to the nation.

UK Anti-Doping (Ukad) has begun an investigation and expressed "grave concern" over claims by two Kenyan doctors they gave banned performance-enhancing drugs to British athletes. The medics were secretly filmed by the Sunday Times, which has investigated allegations of doping in the African country in collaboration with German broadcaster ARD/WRD. Kenya's Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has also reportedly made arrests in connection with the claims.

Russia to know in May if it can send athletes to the Olympics in Rio, while Ethiopia, Morocco, Ukraine, Kenya and Belarus are also under scrutiny.
